Who Is A Servant of God?

1 Philippians 2:5-7: "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men."

Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ set an example for all believers to follow when He "took upon Him the form of a servant." So then, if Jesus can humble himself and be a servant, why will we not follow His example and do the same?

A Servant of God, in my opinion, is someone who has first, surrendered their life to Almighty God by accepting Jesus Christ as their personal Savior; by so doing, has come under the Rule and Lordship of Jesus Christ and must develop an intimate relationship with God through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit of God by:

-
Reading the Bible daily; God's Word
-
Praying to God, in the Name of Jesus
-
Meditating on the words of God with the help of the Holy Spirit of God
-
Fasting
-
Loving the Almighty God and our Neighbors
-
Practicing Forgiveness

A Servant of God, though not perfect, much have a willingness to serve others in our community by seeing the need and asking God for His provision to supply whatever is required to fulfill that need with a discerning spirit...I John 3:17-18, "But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but indeed and in truth."

A Servant of God gives attention to the Body of Christ and stand in the gap when the need arises, whether it be in exercising Spiritual gifts e.g.; ministering, praying for the sick and oppressed, etc. helping those who are hurting and suffering, distributing food and basic commodities to those in need, helping to find accommodations when necessary, or allowing God to use you to bring reconciliation and restoration to families through prayers, counseling, and encouragement so that the devil can have no victory in the life of people.
A Servant of God, must understand that serving others is the very essence of ministry where we demonstrate love for God and for others, who will then, experience the love of God through us and would see that our God is real and would desire to know Him more...2 Cor. 4:5, "For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake."

A Servant of God, must be conscious at all times Matthew 25:44-46 “Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

Even though SALVATION is free, remember that ALMIGHTY GOD gave His Son, JESUS to die on the cross for OUR SINS because HE LOVED THE WORLD.
